The Psychology department annually awards scholarships to students from various funds. For the 2013-14 academic year, the department will award scholarships of $3000 and $700. You may read about each fund below. Details on each award and a past application can be found by clicking on the link to each. Applications are due March 1, 2013.
Alkire Research Scholarship
This fund was given by Edward M. Alkire to help an outstanding junior or senior student majoring in psychology to conduct research in psychology or the mental health field.
Billingslea Research Scholarship
This fund was given by Dr. Fredrick Y. Billingslea to help an outstanding junior or senior majoring in psychology conduct research in clinical psychology or in a clinically related area.
Lawson Memorial Scholarship
This fund was established in memory of Dr. Phillipe Reed Lawson. The purpose of the scholarship is to permit students, who are working full time or part time to pay for their education, to devote more time to their studies.
Piyu C. Ko Memorial Scholarship
This fund commemorates the wife of Dr. H.C. Ko. The award is given on the basis of scholastic achievement, intention for a career in clinical psychology, and demonstrated preparation toward this goal.

Psychology Study Abroad Scholarship
Study abroad scholarships of $2,500 are available to be awarded to psychology majors to facilitate involvement in OSU-approved study abroad programs (not ISAP, research, or internship abroad) that will enrich a student’s psychology education. To be eligible, students must be a declared psychology major for at least two semesters and have an overall GPA of at least 3.0.
Psychology Conference Travel Scholarship
Scholarships are available to psychology majors to facilitate attendance at psychology conferences in which: (1) the student is presenting research, or (2) the student is currently and actively involved in working in a psychology research lab and/or on a psychology Thesis project and attendance at a psychology conference will contribute to the work the student has been doing in the psychology research lab. Eligible students can be awarded up to $400 if they are presenting psychological research at a conference and up to $200 if they attend a psychology conference. All application materials must be submitted at least one month in advance of the conference.
SBS Undergraduate Research Grants
The College of Social and Behavioral Sciences provides research scholarships ranging from $200 - $1000. Autumn 2012 applications are due by 5:00PM Friday - September 21. The Spring 2013 application deadline is 5:00PM Friday, February 8, 2013. Please click here for an application. Undergraduate Research Office Summer Research Scholarships
The purpose of the URO Summer Research Fellowships is to provide highly motivated students in any field of study with the opportunity to carry out an independent research project with an OSU faculty member. The award will be distributed in two parts: $3,000 will be disbursed at the start of Summer Semester, and $500 will be awarded upon submission of a status report at the end of the semester. Fellowship recipients are required to present their findings (or work in progress) at the Fall Undergraduate Research Day and the Denman Undergraduate Research Forum in May. Applications are due February 15, 2013 at noon.
Arts and Sciences Undergraduate Research Scholarship
The Arts and Sciences Undergraduate Research Scholarship Competition applications for the 2013-14 ASC Undergraduate Research Scholarship competition are available in the Honors Office, 207 Enarson Hall or by clicking the above link. To be eligible, students must have attained junior standing and meet one of the following criteria: be a potential candidate for graduation with research distinction; or present other evidence of work on a significant research project.
