In order to graduate with a major in Psychology and Honors in the Arts and Sciences, a student must have an Honors Contract signed by Dr. Alisa Paulsen, psychology honors advisor, and approved by the Arts and Sciences Honors Committee. Honors students entering OSU in AU08 and after and majoring in Psychology follow the same content and credit hour requirements as non-Honors students. However, psychology Honors students are strongly encouraged to take Psychology 100H and are expected to select challenging psychology coursework, including psychology honors courses.

In regards to the psychology major, an Honors contract must include any one of the following combinations of coursework:

  • 1. At least 58 major hours including 3 psychology honors courses (200 to 600 level)
  • 2. At least 58 major hours including 2 psychology honors courses (200 to 600 level) plus at least 2 non-honors 600-level courses
  • 3. At least 58 major hours including 2 psychology honors courses (200 to 600 level) plus 1 non-honors 600-level course and at least two quarters and 6 credit hours of Psychology 699: Undergraduate Research in Psychology.

Honors students are strongly encouraged to meet with Dr. Alisa Paulsen by the end of their sophomore year to finalize their Honors Contract and thereafter at least once a year to discuss progress in the major and changes to the Contract. An appointment with Dr. Paulsen can be made by calling 292-5750.

Once an Honors contract has been approved, students must have revisions approved by Dr. Paulsen. Students are strongly advised to request approval prior to enrolling in psychology coursework that differs from coursework on their approved contract.
