The Bureau of Vocational Rehabilitation (BVR) and Bureau of Services for the Visually Impaired (BSVI) help people with disabilities get or keep a job. For those unable to work, the Bureau of Disability Determination (BDD) determines eligibility for Social Security disability benefits or Supplemental Security Income.

COSI is a hands-on science center for individuals of all ages. We have six interactive exhibition areas and usually one traveling gallery. Additionally, we have a 7-story IWERKS theater showing two movies, plus live shows. There are front-of-house and behind-the-scenes volunteer opportunities.

Internship and volunteer opportunities are within the Older Adults Program. We provide both aging supportive services and mental health services (counseling and case management) with older adults. Most clients are frail with several health problems. Staff and interns also drive clients to important appointments and help them navigate challenging systems (medical systems, government programs, etc). Interns help with direct client services and also help with record audits and other tasks in the office.

Suicide Prevention Services

Suicide Prevention Services is a program of North Central Mental Health Services. Volunteers are needed to answer our 24-hour crisis intervention Hotlines. Spring training will be Weds evenings and 3 Saturdays from the end of March through the beginning of May. Volunteers commit to a 6-hour weekly shift for 6 months. North Central is located on High St just south of campus.
