Alumni Survey Information

In Fall, 2007, an online survey was sent out to 1770 OSU psychology graduates who completed their degrees between Spring 2001 and Spring 2006. The response rate was 21%.

Of the respondents, 67% received a BA and 33% received a BS in Psychology. Students with second majors accounted for 17% of the respondents while 39% had a minor. The GPA breakdown for the participants was: 37% had a GPA of 3.51-4.00; 35% had a GPA of 3.01-3.50; 19% had a GPA of 2.51-3.00; and 6% had a GPA of 2.00-2.51 (3% of the respondents did not indicate their graduating GPA).

Employment Information

The respondents were asked about their current employment. Their responses indicate that 64% are employed full-time, 10% are employed part-time, and 2% are not employed. This number of "not employed" may include those in grad school who are not looking for employment (24% of the respondents did not indicate their current employment status).

The respondents also indicated how long (in months) it took them to find their first job. Overall, 71% of those who responded to this question indicated that they found a job in 3 months or less; 18% found a job in 3-6 months; 11% took more than 6 months to find their first job.

As far as salary is concerned, 53% of those who answered this question earned $25,000 or less; 41% earned between $25,000 and $40,000; 5% earned between $40,000 and $55,000; and 1% earned over $55,000.

Graduate School

Of the respondents, 31% indicated they have completed or are pursuing a master's degree; 27% have completed or are pursuing a doctorate or professional degree; 2% of the respondents pursued some other degree (e.g., another BA or BS); and 40% did not seek a graduate degree.
